শাফাআত শব্দের অর্থ সুপারিশ করা, অনুরোধ করা ইত্যাদি। ইসলামি শরিয়তের পরিভাষায় কল্যাণ ও ক্ষমার জন্য আল্লাহ তায়ালার নিকট নবি-রাসুল ও নেক বান্দাগণের সুপারিশ করাকে শাফাআত বলে।
