মূল সুরের চেয়ে বেশি কম্পাঙ্কের যে সুর উৎপন্ন হয় তাকে উপসুর বা ওভারটোন বলে। কম্পাঙ্ক মূল সুরের কম্পাঙ্কের সরল গুণিতক হলে যে সুর উৎপন্ন হয় তাকে সমমেল বলে।
